The starkness and the contrast between the trees and the snow, together with the half buried houses, makes me feel cold, although the sun is shining outside me window as I type this comment.   Thank you and many congratulations on a fine piece of work.

Patrick Horn (02/05/2011)

The snow sparkles out! Beautiful composition and use of colour - look forward to seeing the actual work in the gallery.

Claire Smart (29/04/2011)

What a fantastic picture from my home! It´s real the reality of the area from the Wolfgang-lake! well done mrs. carter !   ;-)

Josef Hinterberger (29/04/2011)

Will Carter you have a very talented mother! Really relaxing subject. Good luck.

Eleanor Duff (27/04/2011)

This fantastic picture! An evocative landscape, suggesting icy stillness and foreboding forests that are not be depicted in snowy picture postcards.

Nigel Furness (26/04/2011)

How beautifully calming :)

lisa clements (25/04/2011)

I like the way the 'shoreline' seems to melt into the water. It looks just as these places do in real life, a lovely effect!

Rob Ratcliffe (25/04/2011)

what lies behind the calm I wonder? Damian Hurst. Editor's Comment: Hey up! best save this comment for posterity, Iona...or is this someone with a sense of humour. Just that one letter makes all the difference! ( Marg Millington)

I dont know if I want to kayak across the lake or ski down the hill, it all looks very inviting. Great composition! very calming.

Beautiful colours and style.

Lisa Collins (21/04/2011)

What a wonderful watercolour which captures the atmosphere of Austria in winter.

Allan Steele (21/04/2011)

This is a lovely watercolour. I love the colours, the bleakness of the landscape and the fact that I 'feel' cold just looking at it!

Roisin Whiting (21/04/2011)

What a wonderful picture - capturing the stiillness of Winter, with just a hint of mystery (peeping moon).  It's beautiful, Cathy Broderick

cathy broderick (21/04/2011)

The pristine beauty of the snow and the icy sparkle of the water give such a sense of inner peace, in this stunning winter landscape.  The houses, foregrounded and buried in the snow, almost to the roofs, draw you in to the picture and suggest interiors which stand in contrast to the still, cold exterior.  Wonderful!

Nuala Broderick (21/04/2011)

A fine watercolour landscape.  The colours are so cold, reflecting the sub zero temperature.  One can feel the stillness and silence. I like it very much.

vivianne scott (19/04/2011)

Oh this is terrific. Such bitter cold. Makes me glad it's spring now. But what a reminder of those icy months. The colours are wonderful.
