A captivating, unusual close-up study of one of summer's typical perennial plants. It is amazing how such a clever composition gives an almost "Flower Arrangement" look to just this one plant of the wild. The portrayal of flower heads in diverse stages of development and maturity has been skilfully done from initial green buds, fully opened, sun-like yellow blooms to the ultimate delicate, fluffy white balls of seeds awaiting dispersal by summer breezes. The accurately reproduced green, "lion tooth" edged leaves tinged with mauve radiating from the plant centre almost grow as you look at them. Like the Dandelion with its reputed medicinal properties, this painting, which so excellently portrays it, is a Tonic! It would be a great design for a Royal Mail stamp celebrating Summer.

I love this picture.   I like the way the delicate colours and details of the foreground merge into the background.   Congratulations
