About EAC
Elderly Accommodation Counsel (EAC) is a national charity that helps older people make informed decisions about meeting their housing and care needs. It has been providing information and advice to older people for almost 25 years and is a recognised leader in its field. Its services include a free telephone Advice Line and a highly popular website www.HousingCare.org.
EAC’s Advice Line staff understand the difficulties ageing can bring – from having the energy and good health needed to manage the home and garden, to carrying the responsibility of caring for a partner. They also understand how difficult it can be to arrive at a decision on the best way forward. Their role is to help clients review all the options open to them, including services that might help, adapting their home to make it more suitable or moving to more appropriate housing.
Although EAC is a national service, it has very detailed information about local services as well as individual housing developments designed for older people throughout the UK. It also has a directory of residential care homes, and a collection of over 1,000 factsheets and booklets covering all aspects of housing, support and care for older people. All this information is also available on its website.
